Chachoengsao is the river town that most Thais know for Luang Pho Sothon, the revered Buddha image at Wat Sothon. The old centre keeps its wooden shophouses and Ban Mai Market on the Bang Pakong River. It is also one of the three provinces of the Eastern Economic Corridor, with industrial estates at Bang Pakong and Plaeng Yao, and the Bang Na–Trat road runs back towards Bangkok past Suvarnabhumi. Families buy townhouses and detached houses here, most of them under ฿4M, and commute to the estates or into the city.
