Factories on the plain and World Heritage forest in the hills, two hours from Bangkok.
Prachinburi lies on the plain of the Prachinburi and Bang Pakong rivers, about two hours north-east of Bangkok, below the Sankamphaeng hills. It has two lives. The south, around Si Maha Phot and Kabin Buri, is industrial: manufacturing makes up about 71% of the provincial economy, and Honda builds cars at Rojana Industrial Park. The north is forest, with more of it than any other eastern province, and three of its national parks, including the southern side of Khao Yai, belong to a World Heritage forest. Most homes for sale are modest houses near the estates.
