Cool hills and weekend houses at Khao Kho, sea-of-fog mornings, and Si Thep’s ancient town to the south.
Phetchabun fills the Pa Sak valley between two ranges of the Phetchabun Mountains, about 350 km north of Bangkok. Most buyers come for Khao Kho, the hills west of Lom Sak that Thais call the Switzerland of Thailand. From November to February the mornings are cold, fog fills the valleys below the Thale Mok viewpoint, and resorts and weekend houses dot the ridges. Phu Thap Boek, the province’s highest mountain at 1,794 m, is Thailand’s largest cabbage-growing area. In the south lies Si Thep, an ancient city inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023.
