Thailand’s eastern islands: Koh Chang’s forests and beaches, and quieter Koh Kood beyond.
Trat is Thailand’s quiet eastern corner, the last province before Cambodia, and most buyers come for its islands. Koh Chang, Thailand’s third-largest, is hilly and forested, much of it inside Mu Ko Chang National Park, with beaches down its west coast from White Sand Beach to Klong Prao, Kai Bae and the fishing village of Bang Bao. Koh Kood, further south, is quieter still, known for clear water, waterfalls and resorts such as Soneva Kiri. On the mainland, Trat town and Laem Ngop are the gateway.
