Waterfalls, rafting and fruit orchards below the southern edge of Khao Yai, under two hours from Bangkok.
Nakhon Nayok is a small province where the central plain meets the southern wall of Khao Yai, Thailand’s first national park. Its north is forest and waterfalls, Sarika, Nang Rong and Wang Takrai among them; its south is rice fields, orchards and canals. Bangkok families come for weekends of waterfalls, rafting and fruit, and some buy a house or a plot of land to come back to. The province is home to the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy and Srinakharinwirot University’s Ongkharak campus, and its homes are mostly detached houses on their own land.
