Thailand’s gateway to Cambodia: border markets, Khmer ruins and World Heritage forest.
Sa Kaeo is Thailand’s gateway to Cambodia, made a province in 1993 from the eastern districts of Prachinburi. Aranyaprathet faces Poipet across the border, and its huge Rong Kluea Market draws traders from both sides. The north rises into the forests of Pang Sida and Ta Phraya, both part of the Dong Phayayen–Khao Yai World Heritage forest, and Khmer temples such as Sdok Kok Thom and Prasat Khao Noi recall a much older history. It is a farming and trading province, and most homes are houses on their own land.
