A food-loving Andaman town with quiet islands offshore: Kradan, Mook and Libong.
Trang is an Andaman province that has stayed local. The town is known across Thailand for its food: dim sum at breakfast, crisp roast pork, Trang cake and busy night markets. Offshore, the islands are some of the quietest on the coast: Koh Kradan’s clear water and Koh Mook’s Emerald Cave in Hat Chao Mai National Park, and Koh Libong with its dugongs. Trang was also where Thailand planted its first rubber trees, in 1899. A new airport terminal opened in 2025, there is an overnight train from Bangkok, and homes cost far less than on Phuket.
